One of the worlds premier statesmen, James A. Baker III stood at the forefront of United States foreign policy during a revolutionary period in world history. As secretary of state he helped bring the Cold War to an end, liberate Central and Eastern Europe, unify West and East Germany and manage relations with a dissolving Soviet Union. Instrumental in building the coalition that reversed Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, he laid the foundation for peace at the Madrid Middle East Peace Conference. As secretary of the treasury and White House chief of staff during the 1980s, Baker oversaw one of the longest peacetime economic expansions in U.S. history. Baker offers audiences a unique, incisive view of the hottest global and domestic issues.
